The University of Hartford Men's Soccer team improved to 2-3-1 on the season with a 2-0 victory at Iona College on Saturday. The Hawks jumped out to an early 1-0 lead on a goal by freshman midfielder
Alexis Triadis, and added an insurance goal from senior forward
Jeff Tryon in the 58
th minute. Freshman goalkeeper
Jimmy Slayton posted nine saves as Hartford picked up its first road win of the year.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- Triads took a pass from fellow freshman Gael Kisombe, who chipped the ball behind Iona's defenders, leading Triadis on a run to the net. Triadis went to the ground, poking a low shot inside the left post to put the Hawks on top, 1-0, in the 18th minute.
- Iona senior defender Neekoli Calderon picked up a red card in the 54th minute while trying to slow down Tryon on a breakaway. Calderon pulled Tryon down by the jersey just outside the box, giving Hartford a man advantage for the game's final 36 minutes.
- The Hawks cashed in on that advantage just four minutes later, when Tryon headed in his second goal of the year off a corner kick by Triadis.

- Slayton's nine saves set a new career best. His previous best was four, against Saint Francis Brooklyn, on Sept. 7.
- Both sides finished with 15 shots in the game. Triadis led Hartford with five, while forward Marcos Nunez had six shots for the Gaels.
- The Hawks held a 3-2 advantage on corner kicks.
- Seven cards were handed out during the game. Hartford received three yellow cards and Iona finished with two yellows and two reds (Calderon and Jordan Scarlett).

- Hartford improved to 7-1-0 (.875) all-time versus the Gaels. The Hawks extended their winning streak against Iona to six games, making it the program's longest active streak against any opponent. Â Â
