Â
The University of Hartford Men's Soccer team won for the third time in its past four games as the Hawks knocked off Dartmouth, 1-0, on Wednesday night. Sophomore
Andri Jonasson netted his second goal of the season in the 35
th minute and freshman keeper
Jimmy Slayton turned in his third clean sheet of the season to back a stellar defensive effort by the Hawks. It marked the second consecutive road win for Hartford (3-3-1) and just the second loss of the year for a Big Green (1-2-3) squad that was ranked No. 24 during the preseason.
Â
Â
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Â
- Jonasson gave the Hawks a 1-0 advantage in the 35th minute, cleaning up a loose ball directly in front of the net. From the ground, Jonasson popped a shot past Dartmouth freshman keeper Henry Stusnick. Hartford freshman Alexis Triadis and senior Udi Cohen assisted on the goal.
- Hartford's defense took care of Slayton, who finished with one save in his third career shutout. Slayton, who had nine saves in the Hawks' last outing at Iona, was particularly sharp in the games final minutes as Dartmouth stepped up its offensive pressure.
