HOW IT HAPPENED:
- After a back-and-forth opening 15 minutes, the Hawks went on the offensive. Alexis Triadis sent a free position kick at the net, but Vermont keeper Aaron Runarsson kept the attempt out of the goal. - Less than ten minutes later, the Triadis sent another one of his eight corner kicks into the box, where Andre Morrison headed the ball towards the next, but Renarsson was able to keep the Hawks off the board. Â
- The intensity picked up the the closing minitues of the game. Morrison sent a missile from right outside the box that would miss narrowly right of the net in the 82nd minute. Â
- A Hartford foul early in the 90th minute set up a free position kick for the Catamounts, which Ivar Orn Arnason headed past the diving Jimmy Slayton, giving Vermont a 1-0 lead.
- The Hawks wouldn't go out without a fight, however. A Vermont foul with 10 seconds to go in regulation set up a free position kick for Triadis. Hartford sent the remaining 10 into the box, but were unable to capitalize on the opportunity.
