Travis Weatherington tied a school record in three-pointers on Saturday afternoon as the University of Hartford men's basketball team routed Binghamton, 97-65, on Saturday at Reich Family Pavilion. Weatherington knocked down 10 three-pointers, matching current Graduate Manager
Wes Cole's record set four years ago in 2014. He finished with a game- and career-high 34 points for Hartford, which matched the program mark for most triples in a game with 18.
Going 10-of-11 from long range, Weatherington's 90.9 percent clip is the second-best performance in an NCAA Division I game this season, and the best percentage among players with eight or more made three-point field goals this year. In addition, his 10 three-pointers are the second-most in a game in NCAA Division IÂ behind Markus Howard (Marquette), who knocked down 11 on two occasions this season.
The Hawks were also unstoppable from long range, turning in a sizzling 78.3 percent clip as a team. Just one Division I team – Evansville – has had a better performance from three-point land this season, when the Purple Aces went 80 percent (12-of-15) from long range on Dec. 5, against Bowling Green.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Â
- After a back-and-forth start that led to a 10-10 tie with 15:12 left, Hartford broke away from the Bearcats and took a 21-12 lead using an 11-2 run. Drilling four three-pointers in the game's first 8:29, including two during that decisive run, the Hawks knocked down seven more triples before the end of the half to build a commanding 26-point advantage (56-30) at the break.
- Weatherington, who went converted on each of his seven shot attempts in the first half – including all six attempts from behind the arc – led all scorers at the break with 20 points, the most for a Hawk in the first half this season. Junior J.R. Lynch scored all 13 of his points in the first half for Hartford, which went 11-of-15 from three in that stretch for 73.3 percent.
- The Bearcats closed the gap to 58-36 behind back-to-back threes from J.C. Show, but the Hawks quickly pushed the advantage to 33 points at 71-38 with a 13-2 run capped by Weatherington's seventh-straight make from long range.
- Making it an 8-for-8 start from three-point land with 9:52 to go, Weatherington's hot shooting gave Hartford its largest lead of the season. Converting from downtown on back-to-back possessions, his 10th and final triple also gave the Hawks their largest lead of the season – a 35-point spread – at 95-61 with 3:35 left.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE & NOTES:
- Hartford was hot from the field as well, finishing 61.4 percent (35-of-57), including a season-best first-half clip of 64.5 percent (20-of-31). Hartford has shot 50 percent or better in each of its last four games.
- The Hawks' 18 triples matched a program record, set nearly eight years ago on Feb. 17, 2008, against New Hampshire.
- The win marked the Hawks' seventh in their last nine. Hartford's 3-1 start to America East action marks the club's best start since going 4-0 in 2014-15.
- Redshirt-junior John P. Carroll also had a hot hand from three-point land, finishing 3-of-3 on the afternoon. He totaled 14 points to extend his career-best double-figure scoring streak to 12 games.
- Weatherington's 10 three-pointers mark the third-most in a single game in America East history, while the Hawks' 18 triples as a team also mark the third-most in the league.
- Hartford's 97 points were the most since the team had 98 in a win at UMBC (Jan. 21, 2016).
- Hartford committed just seven turnovers and forced Binghamton into 15 miscues.
- Show led the way for Binghamton with 11 points and Thomas Bruce added 10 in the losing effort.
