BOSTON — For the second time in as many weeks, Hartford women's soccer freshman Imani Jenkins was recognized by the America East for her impressive performance on the pitch. A rookie from Middletown, Conn., Jenkins was named the league's Player of the Week and the co-Rookie of the Week.
 
A forward, Jenkins racked up six points this past week after exploding for three goals in Hartford's 3-0 win against defending MAAC Champion Siena this past Sunday. The hat trick, which marked her second multi-goal outing of the season, was the first for a Hawk since 2015, when Aaliyah Ingram ('17) netted three goals against Iona on Sept. 3. 
 
This is the second time that Jenkins has been recognized by the America East. Last Tuesday, she was tabbed the league's Rookie of the Week after she racked up five points in a 2-0 week that featured wins against Merrimack (Sept. 2) and Lafayette (Sept. 5).
 
Jenkins has been on a roll as of late, scoring five of her team-best six goals over Hartford's past three matches. Among America East leaders, she ranks first in goals per game (.857) and points per game (1.86).
 
The red-hot Hawks, who have gone unbeaten in their past three matches (2-0-1), finished their non-conference slate with a 5-1-1 record. In addition, Hartford's .786 winning percentage ranks first in the America East. 
 
Jenkins and the Hawks dive into America East play this Sunday, when they host New Hampshire. Kickoff from Al-Marzook Field at Alumni Stadium is set for 1 p.m.
