WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - Today, the New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association (NEWISA) announced its Division III All-New England teams three Hawks being named.
Senior
Rebecca Opdenbrouw (Vernon, Conn.) was named to the First Team, while freshman
Anastasia Nerney (Glochester, R.I.) and junior
Reese Sadler (Newington, Conn.) was named to the Second Team.
Opdenbrouw appeared and started in all 21 games for the Hawks during her senior season. Across her 1,504 minutes, Rebecca tallied 38 points, 14 goals, and 10 assists. She would end up leading the Conference of New England (CNE) in all major offensive stats (points, goals, and assists) en route to being named the CNE Offensive Player of the Year and having a spot on the All-Conference First Team. Opdenbrouw would later be also named to the United Soccer Coaches All-Region First Team and a United Soccer Coaches Fourth Team All-American.
Nerney started 20 of the 21 games in her freshman season. Anastasia ended the year with 31 points on 11 goals and nine assists in 1511 minutes play. She earned the CNE Rookie of the Year honors as well as a spot on the CNE All-Conference First Team. Nerney was later named to the United Soccer Coaches All-Region First Team.
Sadler started in all 21 games for the Hawks during her junior season, finishing the year with 1,642 minutes played, the third-highest mark on the team. Reese ended the year with two goals and one assist. None of her goals were more crucial than her penalty in the Conference of New England (CNE) Championship against Endicott College on November 8th to give Hartford a 2-0 lead, a lead they would never give back. Sadler's role as a defensive midfielder was vital throughout the year, and it led to her being recognized as part of the CNE All-Conference Second Team as well as a United Soccer Coaches All-Region First Team selection.
