WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – The Hartford women's soccer team continued its winning ways this afternoon with 1-0 victory over Lafayette. A heroic late strike from
Imani Jenkins lifted the Hawks to their second win in a row. Hartford improves to 2-0-0 on the young season, while the Leopards fall to 0-2-0.

Both teams went back-and-forth throughout the first half, tallying five shot attempts each.
Abigail McCarthy kept her early season momentum going, recording three clutch saves to keep the game tied at zero going into the half. In the 57th minute,
Lindsey Metcalfe made a pair of outstanding blocks to prevent the Leopards from two goalscoring opportunities, keeping the game scoreless. Midway through the second half,
May Cervone and
Victoria Jedrychowski gave the Hawks a couple of excellent scoring chances down the right side and in front of the net.
However, Lafayette's defense held Hartford off the board until Jenkins gave Hartford the first lead of the game in the 81st minute, bending her shot in to the top right corner off of a brilliant pass from
Makaela Montgomery-Williams. Despite a late push from the Leopards, which included three shot attempts coming McCarthy's way in a 90 second span, Hartford would hold on for the win by a score of, 1-0.
