DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The University of Hartford men's golf team opened the spring portion of their season, placing ninth of 11 teams in the Sacred Heart Spring Invitational played on the LPGA International Jones Course.
Senior
Manuel Romero finished two-over 74 for the second round, and six-over 150 for the tournament. He tabulated a pair of birdies with two bogeys for the 29th-place finish. Sophomore
Kyle St. Pierre also improved on his first-round performance, shooting a four-over 76 to finish with nine-over 153. After starting the round with a birdie and three straight pars, St. Pierre finished his round with one birdie, four bogeys, and a double bogey.
Junior
Turner Wegener shot an eight-over 80 to finish the tournament with an 11-over 155. Wegener recorded two birdies, four bogeys and a double bogey. Junior
Conor Byrne finished the round seven-over 78 for a tournament total 11-over 155, while graduate student
Danny Frodigh improved on day two with a five-over 77 for a two-round total of 13-over 157.
Hartford returns to the links March 25 and March 26 at the Battle of Rum Point in Berlin, Md.

Junior
Turner Wegener leads the team, and is 34th overall, with a three-over 75. He finished with two birdies and five bogeys over the 18 holes. Three of his five bogeys occurred over the first six holes. Wegener had a stretch in which he was at par for six of seven holes.
After shooting one-under par for the first five holes, senior
Manuel Romero hit a rough patch and finished with a four-over 76. He had two bogeys and a double bogey to conclude his first nine holes. Rivero shot par for seven of the next nine holes to finish.
Junior
Conor Byrne finished with two birdies, three bogeys, and two double-bogeys for a five-over 77, while sophomore
Kyle St. Pierre finished with two birdies and seven bogeys for a five-over 77. Graduate student
Danny Frodigh had one birdie, seven bogeys, and a double-bogey for an eight-over 80.
Hartford concluded the 36-hole event 8 a.m. Friday at the LPGA International-Jones Golf Course.
