GREENWOOD, Ind. – Four members of the Hartford baseball team were recognized for their outstanding work in the classroom, earning Academic All-District Honors, the College Sports Communicators organization announced today (May 16, 2023).

Jack Colella received the All-District award.
Chavarria, graduated on Sunday with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, earning Magna Cum Laude after accumulating a 3.88 GPA. The Pacifica, Calif., native ranked top-three on the squad with a .281 batting average off 34 hits, seven doubles, and 14 RBI. Chavarria also came in second on the team with five stolen bases and one triple on the year.
Chaney joined Chavarria on stage, earning a master's in engineering with a cummulative GPA of 3.97. On the mound this season, the Millersville, Md., native was the Hawks' ace, registering a 5.87 ERA and 1.48 WHIP with two complete games and 34 strikeouts over 46.0 innings of work.
Kellogg a five-year member of the Hartford baseball team is set to graduate in the Fall with a master's in business administration. In the classroom, the Florence, Mass., native has accumulated a 3.72 GPA. On the diamond, Kellogg finished out the season on an 11-game hitting streak while leading his squad with nine doubles, 54 total bases, and 19 RBI.
Colella in the classroom has earned a 3.62 cummulative GPA while working towards a degree in finance. This season on the mound, the Old Saybrook, Conn., native proved to be a reliable arm out of the bullpen, registering a team-low 1.20 WHIP and .196 opposing batting average over 13.1 innings of relief with six punch outs.
Honorees must have at least a 3.5 grade point average and need a full year of residency at the school unless the student-athlete is a graduate transfer.
The organization, formerly known as College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom.
