WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – On Wednesday, Head Baseball Coach Steve Malinowski announced that junior JJ Romatzick (Stratford, Conn.), junior Michael Featherstone (Ramsey, N.J.) and senior Jake Santiago (Bristol, Conn.) would serve as the team captains for the 2024-25 season. 

"These three guys embody what our program is about", said Malinowski. "They are prepared everyday, lead by example, and bring other guys along with them. Santiago, having the most experience of the group, has helped guide this group through the transition and is coming off a stellar season. Featherstone is a natural-born leader who will continue to pitch important innings for us. Romatzick, coming off injury, showed up every day this fall and not only improved his game, but made the whole infield better as well.  There were a lot of other guys who gained consideration for captain that will still be able to help this group lead us in the spring. We are excited to see this group lead the team this spring."

Romatzick heads into his junior season after missing all of 2024 due to injury. JJ in his Hawk career has started 37 games with 20 runs scored, nine RBIs, seven stolen bases and four extra base hits. 

Featherstone also is in his third season for Hartford, after making 12 pitching appearances in 2024 with a 1-2 record and 4.76 ERA. Michael ended the year tossing 22.2 innings of work with a pair of saves, 27 strikeouts and just 12 earned runs allowed. 

Santiago enters year four for the Hawks after having a break-out year in 2024. Jake ended the year with an average of .452 with four homers, 37 RBIs, 24 runs scored and 18 doubles. 

The Hawks schedule has yet to be released yet, but should be available prior to January 2025.
