HARTFORD, Conn. - The Hartford men's cross country team competed in the 1st Annual University of Hartford Invitational on Saturday at Keney Park racing to a second place finish as a team.
Rapid Recap:
- The Hawks were led by freshman Owen Klein (Coventry, R.I.) who placed in 9th in the event at a time of 16:48.7 in the 5k event.
- Sophomore Keller Casey (Charlton, N.Y.) was next crossing the line in 14th at a time of 16:56.0. Right behind Casey was senior Riley Brutvan (Gardiner, N.Y.) who finished in 15th at a time of 16:56.4.
- Senior Jovan Joseph (Wrentham, Mass.) and sophomore Trae McIntyre (Troy, N.Y.) closed out the scorers coming in 24th and 33rd at times of 17:30.7 and 17:53.1.
- The Hawks ended the event in second place with a team score of 74 on the day.
- Dillon Labonte from Southern New Hampshire University would win the event individually at a time of 15:49.7, while Bentley University won the event as a team with a score of 28.

"It felt good being out here today", said senior
Jovan Joseph (Wrentham, Mass.). "Being able to practice on the course the past couple of weeks has helped a lot. It feels special having a home event this year. My last home meet was in high school, so having the home atmosphere and parents and teammates cheering me on. It really hits different then competing elsewhere.
