CANTON, N.Y. - The men's cross country team will travel up to St. Lawrence University in Canton, N.Y. on Saturday, November 15th, to take part in the NCAA Mideast Regionals. This will be the first time participating in the Mideast Regionals for the Hawks, though they did place first in the ECAC Championships in 2024. This will be an opportunity to add new hardware to the the trophy cabinet. The men will be running the 8k, which will begin at 11 AM.
Meet Headlines:
- The Hawks enter the Mideast Regionals having placed third out of 10 participants in the Conference of New England (CNE) Championships. The finish is their best place of the year, proving that the team as a whole is peaking at the optimal time. Led by a solid core of upperclassmen, there is plenty of optimism surrounding Hartford as they head into these Regionals.
Hartford Headlines:
- The Hawks are led by sophomore Owen Klein (Coventry, R.I.), who holds a team-best 25:51.10 in the 8k. Klein earned his personal best in the event on October 18th at the Connecticut College Invitational. Klein's 26:02.36 run in the CNE Championships was vital in ensuring third place for the Hawks.
- Klein will be accompanied by his partners in crime, senior Gulian Marconi (Southampton, Mass.), with his 8k time of 26:38.50, as well as junior Trae McIntyre (Troy, N.Y.) and his time of 26:42.70. McIntyre, in particular, was vital in Hartford's CNE Championships performance and is peaking at the best time for the Hawks.
- The Hawks will be without the services of graduate student Riley Brutvan (Gardiner, N.Y.) during the Regionals. Brutvan has been a key runner for Hartford throughout the season, placing top 10 in the CNE Championship runs for the 8k. The void of his presence will be hard to fill for the Hawks as they take on their hardest test of the season.
