WENHAM, Mass. - The Hartford women's cross country team will travel this Saturday to Gordon College as they are the team to host the Conference of New England 2025 Championships. In 2024, this was the first year the Hawks were eligible to compete in this contest and placed 6th out of 8 teams. The women will be running the 6k this weekend with an official start time of 1:00 PM.
Championship Headlines:
The Hawks are coming off of a strong team performance at the CCSU Mini Meet this past weekend with individual results tallied. Their best performance of the 2025 season stand at the 2nd Annual University of Hartford Invitational in which the Hawks hosted 16 other teams and placed 8th overall.
The Hawks are led by junior Sophia Rebenciuc (Southwick, Mass.) with a 6k season best time of 22:57.5 at the Connecticut College Invitational earning herself 16th place overall. Rebenciuc will compete in the 2025 CNE Championships for the first time as a Hawk as she spent her first two collegiate season at Westfield State University.
Another Hawks to keep an eye out for will be sophomore Ella Stephenson (Ledyard, Conn.) Stephenson's personal best this season stands at 24:55.5 at the Keene State Invitational in the 6k event. In last years CNE championship Ella had a strong showing for the team running a time of 25:35.93 to give her 37th place overall.
Junior
Annie Gilman (Lowell, Mass.) has been another consistent Hawk for the 2025 season and will be a strong asset to the team this weekend. Gilman ran her best at the Connecticut College earning a finish line time of 25:25.4. In 2024, at the CNE Championships Annie placed 50th overall and 3rd for the Hawks with a time of 26:08.95 in the 6k event.
A Hawk that has been rising on the radar has been freshman
Maya Siegelman (Suffern, N.Y.). Maya has consistently ran with strong times and been a key player crossing the finish line. Her personal best on the season came at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational as she earned a time of 25:46.99.
