CANTON, N.Y. - The women's cross country team will travel up to St. Lawrence University in Canton, N.Y., on Saturday, November 15th, to take part in the NCAA Mideast Regionals. This will be the first time the team will take part in the Mideast Regionals. The women will run a 6k that will start close to 12 PM.
Meet Headlines:
-
The Hawks are coming off the Conference of New England (CNE) Championships, where they finished fifth out of 11 teams. The finish is proof that the Hawks are peaking at the right time. Having finished in the bottom half of their previous three meets, this result is a sign of optimism as they head into Regionals.
Hartford Headlines:
- The Hawks will be led by Sophia Rebenciuc (Southwick, Mass.) heading into the weekend. The junior posted a team-best 22:57.50 time in the 6k earlier this year on October 18th at the Connecticut College Invitational. Rebenciuc followed up her personal best performance with a near-identical finish at the CNE Championships with a time of 22:57.90.
- In addition to Rebenciuc, Hartford will be calling upon the services of freshman Maya Siegelman (Suffern, N.Y.) and her 6k time of 24:43.50, as well as sophomore Ella Stephenson (Ledyard, Conn.) with her time of 25:04.70. The two underclassmen round out a squad of young and hungry Hawks who are desperate to perform.
- Traveling with the team in support is senior Elizabeth White (Nashua, N.H.). Having not competed since October 4th, White has become the veteran leader of the team. Her leadership has been much needed for a team filled with underclassmen.
