Hartford Women’s Soccer Claims Four All-Region Honors

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - On Tuesday, the United Soccer Coaches All-Region Teams were announced, with four different Hawks taking home various distinctions.

Junior Reese Sadler (Newington, Conn.), senior Rebecca Opdenbrouw (Vernon, Conn.), and freshman Anastasia Nerney (Glocester, R.I.) were all named to the First Team, while junior captain Kathleen Brush (Wethersfield, Conn.) was named to the Second Team.

Sadler held down the midfield for the Hawks all season, playing incredible defense while notching two goals on only four shots, including one of the two goals scored by the Hawks in the Conference of New England (CNE) Championship. Alongside this All-Region selection, Sadler was also named to Second Team All-Conference.

Opdenbrouw is no stranger to hardware this season, having compiled various recognitions. Over the course of her 2025 campaign, Opdenbrouw was named CNE Offensive Player of the Week in October, CNE Offensive Player of the Year, First Team All-Conference, and, last but not least, College Sports Communicators Academic All-District. Opdenbrouw earned every last title as her play on the field topped nearly every offensive statistical category across the CNE.

Nerney too has earned a whole host of honors throughout her first season with the Hawks. She was named back-to-back CNE Rookie of the Week in late October and early November, was named CNE Rookie of the Year, and earned a spot on the First Team All-Conference. Similar to Opdenbrouw, Nerney found herself across the tops of the leader boards in nearly all offensive statistical categories, highlighting the dominance she put on tape in her freshman season.

As for Brush, the junior captain built off of her outstanding 2024 season, with another phenomenal year for the Hawks. Brush battled through injury throughout the course of the 2025 season, making her CNE Offensive Player of the Week Award in early November and her All-Conference Second Team designations all the more impressive. Brush's most notable statistical achievement this season comes in the form of her three game winning goals, tying her for second across the CNE.

The Hawks may not be done winning awards just yet, as all four of the All-Region selectees turn their attention to possibly taking home All-American honors in the coming weeks.
