WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - Men's Cross Country Opened the season up Saturday, hosting the second annual University of Hartford Invitational at Keney Park. The Hawks came away with fourth place out of 19 teams, with two names in the individual top five.

Rapid Recap:

• Hartford was led by graduate student Riley Brutvan (Gardiner, N.Y.) who placed first overall with a time of 15:50.8, just one second away from the course record. 

• Sophomore Owen Klein (Coventry, R.I.) was next to cross the line for Hartford placing fourth overall with a time of 16:06.5

• Senior Gulian Marconi, and sophomore Daren Johnson, closed out the scorers coming in 27th and 35th place with times of 17:08.5 and 17:17.3
• Southern Connecticut State University would take home overall team first place, with a team score of 57 and three top-10 finishes.

Post-Race Press:
"I think today really set the tone for the rest of the season. We went up against some competitive teams today, and we held our own, with most of us improving dramatically since we raced here last year. My goals for today were to race confidently and pace myself through the race in a way that I know works well, and it brought me my first collegiate cross country win, which is really special to do here on our home course." Brutvan had to say following the race.
