BEVERLEY, Mass. - On Monday, the Conference of New England (CNE) announced its weekly report of awards with Hartford junior Nicole Ciampa (Jefferson, N.J.) being named the CNE Field Hockey Defensive Player of the Week.

Ciampa became the first Hawk in program history to earn CNE Field Hockey Defensive Player of the Week honors. The junior goalkeeper had a stellar week in the cage, playing all 120 minutes across Hartford's two games while recording 30 saves and allowing just five goals. Ciampa's best performance of the week came in Hartford's 5-0 victory over Manhattanville University on September 30th. In the win, Ciampa recorded her first career shutout while making 11 saves to help the Hawks secure the clean sheet. Ciampa followed that performance with 19 saves against the University of New England on Saturday. Despite the 5-0 setback, Ciampa's 19 saves marked the most saves in a single game of her career. Playing back-to-back games, Ciampa remained composed under pressure, making crucial penalty stroke saves in both contests. Her 19-save performance capped an impressive two-game stretch in which she faced a combined 30 shots on goal. Ciampa currently holds a 2-2 record on the season.

Ciampa and the Hawks will be back in action on October 7th when they host Western Connecticut State University for a nonconference match up at 6:00 PM at Al-Marzook Field at Alumni Stadium.
