Hawks Men's Track & Field Takes Home Second Place in Rage in the Cage Invitational

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - On Friday, the University of Hartford men's outdoor track & field team hosted the second annual Rage in the Cage Invitational at the Grant Family Track & Field. 

Rapid Recap:

  • The Hawks finished in the second place as a team with 239 points. Assumption would win the 10 team meet with 250.5 points overall. 
  • Junior Thomas Yonkers (Farmington, Conn.) broke the school record in the pole vault event clearing a height of 4.30 meters. Yonkers would win the event for Hartford. 
  • Sophomore Marlon Pierre (Baldwin, N.Y.) broke the school record in the 110 meter hurdles event at a time of 15.37 seconds. Pierre placed in second in the event. 
  • Freshman Boaz Pean (Newark, N.J.) came in 1st in the 400 meter hurdles at a time of 59.07 seconds. 
  • Senior Mats Nevin (South Burlington, Vt.) won the 3000 meter steeplechase at a time of 10:23.96. 
  • Freshman Gavin Mize (Downingtown, Pa.) won the 800 meter at a time of 1:59.53. 
  • Junior William Pavlinsky (New Milford, Conn.) won shot put at a distance of 13.93 meters. 
  • Sophomore Owen Klein (Coventry, R.I.) took gold in the 1500 meters at a time of 4:05.55. 
  • Sophomore Aidan Lybarger (South Burlington, Vt.) placed in first in the discus event at a distance of 44.33 meters. 
  • Freshman Julius Lowe-Wannamaker (Springfield, Mass.) came in second in the long jump hitting a distance of 6.70 meters. 
  • Junior Aidan Quee (Springfield, Mass.) placed in second in the 400 meter at a time of 50.04. 
  • The Hawks men's track & field team also celebrated graduating student-athletes ahead of the meet as part of senior day festivities. Hartford athletes recognized were graduate student Kaden Leonard (Webster, N.Y.), senior Mats Nevin (South Burlington, Vt.), senior Gulian Marconi (Southampton, Mass.), senior Bryce Foster (Manchester, N.H.), senior Peter Efinger (Washingtonville, N.Y.), senior Steven Confesor-Chable (Danbury, Conn.), senior Spencer Beane (North Reading, Mass.) and senior Tyrell Bailey (Willingboro, N.J.).
