Hartford Softball Splits Series with Endicott College

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - The Hartford softball team hosted Endicott College on Saturday defeating the Gulls in game one before falling in game two.

Rapid Recap Game 1 (W, 3-2 F/8):

  • Senior Carly Mayhood (Newton, N.J.) would get out of a pair of jams in the first two innings and the teams remained scoreless through the first two. In the third the Gulls would get on board first as Elyse Saccoccio reached on an error brining home the first run. Hartford would respond in the bottom of the fourth as freshman Priya Bedard (Medway, Mass.) doubled home senior Anita Farkash (Seaford, N.Y.) who doubled to lead off the inning. The Hawks would threaten, but Kristen Beebe got out the jam to keep the game knotted 1-1.
  • Mayhood really dominated in the middle innings at one point setting down 16 straight Gulls as we headed into the bottom of the seventh. Hartford would once again have the winning run on third, but Endicott would turn a huge double play to put the game into extra innings.
  • In the top of the 8th the Gulls would get a second run as Kylyn McLaren doubled home the runner placed on second to begin the inning, but a pair of fly outs kept the damage at one run. Farkash would walk to put two runners on to kick off the eighth. Freshman Arianna Hernandez (Fair Lawn, N.J.) would be the hero doubling to right center to plate both runners for the walk-off hit.

In th Circle:

  • Mayhood tossed 139 pitches to pick up her fifth win of the season. Carly went all eight innings allowing two runs (zero earned) with six strikeouts on two hits.

At the Plate:

  • The freshman came through getting all three RBIs in the game. Bedard went 1-for-1 with the pinch hit RBI double and Hernandez went 1-for-1 with two walks and the winning two RBI double. Farkash also reached base three times going 1-for-2 with a run and two walks.
Rapid Recap Game 2 (L, 4-1):
  • The Gulls would strike first in game two scoring two runs on two hits in the top of the second. McLaren would double down the line scoring both runners. Hartford would get a run back in the bottom of the frame as sophomore Ella Zobel (Clarence, N.Y.) singled home senior Gia Miccio (Bellmore, N.Y.).
  • The game would slow down in the middle innings with no teams scoring until the top half of the seventh. Endicott would plate two more in the final inning first on a Ella Tower double followed by a Maddie Beeley single. Bedard would double again, but the Hawks would not pickup any last inning runs falling by the 4-1 margin.

In the Circle:

  • Zobel picked up her first loss of 2026 tossing two innings allowing two runs on two hits. Junior Gracie Hopkins (El Dorado Hills, Calif.) pitched well in relief going five innings allowing two runs (one earned) with a strikeout.

At the Plate:

  • Farkash went 2-for-2 with another walk for the Hawks to lead the offense. Bedard had the lone extra base hit in the loss.
