Men's Tennis Drops Mid-week Match at Holy Cross 5-2

Worcester, MA - The University of Hartford men's tennis team dropped a mid-week match at Holy Cross on Wednesday evening. The Hawks saw singles victories from newcomers Aniel Bhalla and Matt Seltzer.

 

In doubles play, the Hawks came inches away from earning the point. Hartford's Filip Miletic and Aaron Kooden picked up the only doubles victory in the third position. They defeated Kevin Leggio and Brendan McElhenny by an 8-2 margin. In the first doubles position, Ricky Dove and Bhalla fell by a 9-8 margin to Jay DeSanto and Matt Wierzal, while Seltzer and Will White dropped the second doubles match by an identical score to John Burke and Dan Phelan.

 

Bhalla and Seltzer both picked up their first collegiate victories, with Seltzer's coming in just his second match for Hartford. Bhalla defeated Burke by 6-2, 6-3 scores in the second singles position. In the third position, Seltzer defeated Phelan by a 6-4, 6-2 margin. Dove also played well in his singles match at the number one position. Dove picked up a 6-4 win in the first set before falling by scores of 6-3 and 10-8 to Wierzel.

 

The men's tennis team returns to action on October 16 for the ITA Northeast Regional Championship hosted by Yale at the New Haven Tennis Center.
