Assistant Softball Coach Lands Spot on Colonial Athletic Conference's Silver Anniversary Team

Richmond, VA – Kayleigh Lotti, an assistant softball coach at the University of Hartford and former softball standout at Hofstra University, was one of 25 softball players named to the Colonial Athletic Association's Silver Anniversary team, as announced by the league office.

As part of its 25th Anniversary celebration in 2009-10, the CAA is recognizing Silver Anniversary teams in 21 championship sports. The teams were selected by a panel of current and former coaches in the conference.

Softball has been a championship sport in the CAA since 2002. Hofstra has been the league's dominant program with seven consecutive CAA championships from 2002-08. Lotti is one of 10 Hofstra players to be honored on the Silver Anniversary team.

Lotti enjoyed an illustrious career at Hofstra, where she graduated in 2009 with a bachelor's degree in sociology. As a four-time letterwinner and starting pitcher, Lotti led the Pride to back-to-back CAA titles in 2007 and 2008 and three-straight NCAA Regional appearances.

Lotti capped off her career by earning All-CAA and All-Mid Atlantic Region First Team honors for the fourth time in as many seasons. She closed out the 2009 campaign with an 18-9 overall record and a career-best 1.27 ERA, including an 11-0 mark and 0.27 ERA in conference games. The three-time CAA Pitcher of the Year tallied 979 career strikeouts, smashing the previous record of 638. Additionally, Lotti's 82 wins and 32 career shutouts rank second in Hofstra's all-time record book.
