SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Tim Fallon, a junior on the University of Hartford men's lacrosse team, was selected as a 2010 Men's Division I LaxPower All-American. LaxPower.com, a leading source for high school and college lacrosse ratings and rankings, scores and news, announced its inaugural All-America list on Wednesday morning. The list consists of 16 players and includes four attackmen, five midfielders, four defenders, one long stick midfielder, one face-off specialist and one goalie.
Fallon landed his spot on the Division I LaxPower All-American list as the face-off specialist. The junior started and played in every game this season and has ranked on top of the NCAA statistics in ground balls (9.40 per game) and face-off percentage (62.2-percent) for six consecutive weeks.
“Tim put together an amazing year,” commented head coach Peter Lawrence. He continued, “Off the field, he posted a 3.5 grade point average in the fall and was voted by his peers as the Hawks' MVP. We as a coaching staff felt that he was one of our hardest workers. He constantly had the 'be-the-best' attitude from the fall through the entire spring. We couldn't have asked for any more and are very proud of Tim's accomplishments.”
Fallon, a two-time America East All-Conference selection, posted career-best numbers in 2010 with seven points including three goals and four assists. The Lowell, Mass. native was named to the America East All-Conference First Team this season and in 2009, he earned second team honors.
Fallon engraved his name in the Hartford career record book this season, breaking the all-time single season ground ball record with 131. In addition, his face-off percentage of 62.2 is the second-best recorded by a Hawk in a single season. Fallon also cracked the program's all-time career record books, sliding into the seventh spot with 238 ground balls.
Hartford finished 4-10 on the season and concluded America East conference play with a mark of 1-4. The Hawks posted the most wins since the 2003 campaign when they finished 9-8 overall. In addition, Hartford lost six games by two goals or less, including four by a single goal. The team, which graduates only a pair of seniors, will return all but one starter next season.
