BOSTON, Mass. – The University of Hartford softball team dropped two games to the Boston University Terriers on Sunday. The Terriers took game one in five innings in a final of 8-0 before defeating the Hawks, 18-2, in five innings in the nightcap.

Hartford concludes its 2010 campaign with an overall record of 16-24, including a mark of 3-14 in the America East. Boston University closes out the regular season at 31-19 (14-3 AE) and earned its first regular season title since the 2007 season.

Senior Cassidi Hardy hurled a perfect game, the first of her career, striking out 11 hitters in 15 at-bats in game one. The Terriers jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead on Saturday prior to the suspension of the contest in the top of the fourth frame due to poor field conditions. Boston University built up its lead on Sunday with three more runs in the bottom of the fourth to earn the 8-0 win over the Hawks.

In game two, the Boston University offense exploded for 18 runs on 15 hits en route to an 18-2 oust of the Hawks. Nine batters recorded hits for the Terriers with four players notching multi-hit games. Emily Roesch led Boston University at the plate finishing 4-for-4 with five RBI. Whitney Tuthill knocked in six runs on a pair of hits.

The Terriers plated four runs in the first inning and added six more in the second frame to take an 11-0 lead. Following five more scores in the third frame, the Hawks scratched their only two runs across the plate in the top of the fourth. The Terriers closed out the scoring with three runs in the bottom of the fourth.

Amanda Dilworth and Olivia Piacentini each finished 1-for-2 on the afternoon. They each added an RBI. Nicole Springer also connected for a hit. Springer suffered the loss inside the circle, throwing for three innings and allowing 15 runs on 12 hits.

The Hawks lose Rachel Clonick, Ann Kyzer, Sara Messinger and Piacentini to graduation.
