Comeback Falls Short as Women's Soccer Falls to Temple, 4-3

Box Score

PHILADELPHIA -
Breeanna Robinson netted two goals and Alex Uscilla helped with two assists, but the Hartford women's soccer team could not overcome an early 2-0 deficit as they fell to Temple on Sunday, 4-3. The loss left the Hawks with a split in the Temple Owls Tournament after taking down Drexel on Friday, 2-0.

Just over 30 minutes into the contest, with the Hawks already trailing 2-0, Robinson got the team on the scoreboard with her perfectly placed shot from the right side of the goal which beat Temple's Tara Murphy to the upper lefthand corner. Uscilla fed the ball into Robinson down low for the goal.

Hartford fell behind 3-1 on a Temple penalty kick before freshman Arielle Aikens converted on her only shot attempt of the game. Playing a rebound off the right post, Aikens pulled the Hawks back within a goal with just over 12 minutes to play.

That deficit would be short-lived, however, as Temple answered with a score less than four minutes later. Robinson would send home her second goal of the game with 85:07 gone, another right-to-left score off a feed from Uscilla.

For their efforts, Robinson, Uscilla and Aikens were all named to the All-Tournament Team. Robinson finished with three goals on the tournament, while Aikens added two and Uscilla had two assists.

The Hawks return home on Friday, where they will open the Hartford Hawks Soccer Weekend against another Philadelphia team, La Salle. That game is scheduled to get underway at 7 p.m.
