Quinlan Named Player of the Week, Second Honor for the Sophomore Keeper

COMPLETE AMERICA EAST WEEKLY RELEASE

West Hartford, Conn. –
Sophomore keeper Erin Quinlan became the Hawks first repeat honoree of the season when she was named the America East Player of the Week on Monday afternoon. Quinlan earned co-Player of the Week honors on September 19. Quinlan's recognition on Monday marks three-straight weeks the Hawks have received a weekly conference honor.

This past week, Quinlan led the Hawks to their eighth and ninth shutouts of the season, helping her team remain perfect in conference play with a 1-0 road victory at Binghamton and a 3-0 clean sheet against New Hampshire at Al-Marzook Field at Alumni Stadium.

On the week, Quinlan made 15 total saves, including eight stops in the Binghamton victory which ties her career high. The transfer from Syracuse leads America East and ranks second nationally in goals-against average (0.17), save percentage (.968) and shutouts (9).

After going 717-plus minutes between goals earlier this season, Quinlan has begun another streak between the pipes, not allowing a score in 296 straight minutes. She allowed a goal in the second half of the season opener against Old Dominion (August 19) and then not again until September 21 when Fairfield scored an equalizer in the 64th minute of a 1-1 stalemate.

Quinlan's first conference honor came after posting back-to-back shutouts of Lafayette (1-0) and Cornell (2-0) at the Marist Tournament where she also earned the tournament's Defensive MVP honors. Those two shutouts were the third and fourth straight for the Saugus, Mass. native.

As a team, the Hawks 10-0-2 overall record has led to a fourth-straight week in the Northeast Region rankings put out by the NSCAA. This week, the Hawks moved up one spots to fifth in the region, while their undefeated record is the only unblemished mark in the top-10. The Hawks record to-date extends what is the best start in program history, surpassing an 8-0 start for the 1995 Hawks who went on to win a conference title and NCAA Tournament Appearance.

The Hawks will host the Stony Brook Seawolves in their only action over an 11-day span. Hartford and Stony Brook are scheduled to meet on Tuesday at 6:00 p.m.
