West Hartford, Conn. – The University of Hartford women's soccer team kept its unblemished record intact with a 1-0 shutout of the Quinnipiac Bobcats on Thursday night at Al-Marzook Field at Alumni Stadium. The Hawks improve to 4-0-1 overall on the season, while the Bobcats fall to 0-2-1 in 2011.

The victory marks the best start under eighth year head coach John Natale and is the program's best start since the 1999 season when the Hawks opened the year with a 5-0 record. The Hawks went on to finish that season with an 18-5-2 record.

Junior Caitlin Alves provided the only offense scoring in the 28th minute with her team leading fourth goal of the season. Fellow classmate Amélia Pereira started the play with an initial direct kick that ricocheted off the cross bar falling to the feet of Alves. Alves then blasted a shot towards the center of the goal, which Quinnipiac keeper Jill Kelley deflected with her left hand but couldn't control. After tracking down the rebound at the goal line, Alves finished the play with a touch of her right foot.

Hawks keeper Erin Quinlan, a sophomore transfer from Syracuse University, extended her streak of scoreless minutes between the pipes to 379:06 as she earns her third shutout as a Hartford Hawk. Quinlan was not forced into action tonight, finishing with no saves despite the Bobcats three total shots. Hartford finished with a 7-3 advantage in shots, forcing Bobcats keeper Jill Kelley to make one save.

The Hawks will return to action on Sunday afternoon when they travel to Long Island University for a 1:00 p.m. match-up with another Northeast Conference member on the Brooklyn, N.Y. campus.
