WEST HARTFORD, Conn. –
The Boston University Terriers broke an eight-game unbeaten streak for the Hartford women's soccer team with a goal in the 74th minute leading to a 1-0 shutout at Al-Marzook Field at Alumni Stadium. Hartford falls to 9-3-3 overall and 5-1-0 in the league, while the Terriers improve to 9-3-3 overall and 6-0-0 in the America East.

The two squads combined for 15 total shots in the contest, with the Terriers outshooting the home team 11-4 overall. Hartford keeper Erin Quinlan finished the game with four saves, while her counterpart for the Terriers made a pair of saves, both in the second half. Boston also led the game with six corner kicks compared to none for Hartford.

Neither team managed many shots in the opening stanza, combining for four total, three from the Terriers and one from the home team. Boston University placed the only shot on net of the half with McKenzie Hollenbaug providing the boot. The play began with a corner kick from Jessica Morrow that following a scrum inside the box found its way to Hollenbaug who fired a shot from just outside the box. Quinlan was able to make a diving save to her right to stop the shot from finding the back of the net.

Hartford came out of the halftime break with the first shot in the second half coming from rookie Sidney Spremullo. Her attempt came just over two minutes into the period and was a weak attempt from the top of the box that Andrea Green corralled easily.

Boston University had its first look at the net in the second half again come off a corner kick, this one batted around deep on the end line but eventually cleared out by the Hawks defense. About five minutes later the Hawks Caitlin Alves had a breakaway opportunity down the left side but her cross into the box was broken up by a Terrier defender.

The Terriers goal came off another corner kick for the visitors, this one again started by Morrow. Her blast flew across the box and after lightly deflecting off of a Hawks defender found the feet of Emma Clark who was able to fire a hard shot at the lower left corner as the defense retreated and Quinlan was unable to track down after recovering from the corner kick.

With just under five minutes remaining, the Hawks had another opportunity when rookie Elise Galipo sent a hard blast from well outside the 18-yard box that Green was able to collapse on. Hartford would have a few more opportunities as they scrambled for an equalizer inside of five minutes.

Hartford will enjoy a weekend off after tonight's game, returning to action on Thursday, October 18
