HAMDEN, Conn.—Seniors
Josh Isaacson and
Bogdan Nedelcu each posted wins in singles competition to lead the Hawks at the Quinnipiac Invitational over the weekend. Isaacson and Nedelcu both earned reached the quarterfinals of the “C” Singles bracket with victories over their first-round opponents.
Isaacson squared off against Bentley's Peter Koopman in the opening round. The Marietta, Ga., native notched a 6-3, 6-2 victory in the first round. He then dropped a 6-1, 6-3 result in the quarterfinals.
Nedelcu, a senior Rocky Hill, Conn., picked up a 6-4, 6-1 win over Raghav Tanna, also from Bentley, before falling, 6-0, 6-0, in the quarterfinal round.
Freshmen Nick Sharwarko and
Luis Montes also earned victories in singles consolation play. Sharwarko defeated Sacred Heart's Brian Power, 8-6, while Montes triumphed over Connecticut's Zac McEntee, 9-7.
The Hawks resume their fall schedule with a pair of midweek dual matches, hosting Siena on Wednesday, Oct. 10 and America East foe Boston University on Thursday, Oct. 11.
