EAST HARTFORD, Conn. – The University of Hartford men's tennis team fell in a 7-0 decision as it hosted Fordham in East Hartford Saturday afternoon.
The Hawks were unable to muster a point in the match, but each of the singles matches was competitive. The closest contested match was at No. 4 singles where sophomore
Michael Kennelly came back from a one-set deficit to force a tiebreaker set. Kennelly fell behind in the match, dropping the first set to Fordham's Max Peara, 6-3. Kennelly came back to win the second set, 6-4, before dropping the tiebreak by a score of 10-5.
In the top singles match, Hartford junior
Marco Neves took three games in each set as he dropped a 6-3, 6-3 decision to
Fordham's Kuba Kowalski. At No. 2 singles, senior
Aneil Bhalla took seven games in his two-set match, falling 6-4, 6-3 to Srikar Alla.
The Rams swept all three of the doubles matches, winning each match by an identical 8-1 score.
Next up for the Hawks is a trip to Smithfield, R.I., to take on Bryant on Saturday, March 3.
