Bhalla Earns Singles Victory as Hawks Drop 6-1 Decision at Fairfield

FAIRFIELD, Conn.
– Senior Aneil Bhalla earned a victory in singles play as the University of Hartford men's tennis team fell, 6-1, on the road at Fairfield. The Hawks returned to action after a three-week layoff.
 
Bhalla picked up the lone point for the Hawks playing out of the No. 2 singles slot. Playing against Fairfield's Ian Tesmond, Bhalla dropped the first set, 2-6. The senior came back to win the second set in a tiebreak, 7-6 (6), before winning the superbreak, 10-8, to earn the victory.
 
The No. 5 singles match also went to a superbreak. Sophomore Alex Holdstein jumped out to a lead, winning the first set, 6-4, over Cam Amyot. However, Amyot took the second set, 6-3, and the break, 10-7.
 
Both Hartford tennis squads have a pair of matches approaching. The two teams travel to Hempstead, N.Y., Friday, March 30, to take on Hofstra before returning to West Hartford to host NJIT on Sunday.
