Tennis Teams Learn Seeding for America East Championship

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The University of Hartford men's tennis team will enter the 2012 America East Championship as the No. 5 seed while the women's squad will play as the No. 6 seed as announced by the conference office Wednesday. The championship is scheduled for April 27-29 at the USTA National Tennis Center in Flushing, N.Y.

The Hawk men open play with a quarterfinal matchup against the fourth-seeded Boston University Terriers. The opening match is set for Friday, April 27 at 2 p.m. The winner will play top-seeded Binghamton in Saturday's semifinal round.

Hartford and Boston University met April 14 in West Hartford, Conn. The Terriers took the match, 6-1. Senior Aneil Bhalla picked up a win at No. 2 singles, 6-3, 6-4, over Jesse Frieder to earn a point for the Hawks.

As the No. 6 seed, the Hawk women play No. 3 Binghamton in the quarterfinals at 11 a.m. on Friday morning. The winner will advance to take on No. 2 UMBC Saturday at 10 a.m. The losing team will play in a consolation match against the losing team from the other quarterfinal. The consolation match is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Saturday.

The Hawks and Bearcats played last Saturday at Stony Brook with the Bearcats securing a 7-0 victory.
