FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Hartford men's tennis narrowly missed back-to-back victories as it dropped a 4-3 decision on the road at Sacred Heart Friday afternoon. The women's tennis squad was also in action at Sacred Heart, falling, 6-1, to the Pioneers.
 
After beating Merrimack Thursday afternoon, the Hawks fell just short of two wins in a row against the Pioneers. The men won three of the six singles matches and one of the three doubles matches against Sacred Heart.
 
The Hawks earned a win at No. 1 doubles as Aneil Bhalla and Josh Isaacson teamed up for a 9-8 (5) victory. The Pioneers picked up the doubles point with wins in the doubles matches at Nos. 2 and 3.
 
In singles play, Hartford won its mathes at Nos. 2, 3 and 4. Bhalla defeated Justin Pagan at the No. 2 spot while his doubles partner, Isaacson, outlasted Luka Bagi in a three-set match, 5-7, 6-1, 6-4, to earn a victory at No. 3 singles.
 
Sophomore Michael Kennelly picked up the Hawks third point with a 6-2, 7-5 win playing out of the No. 4 position.
 
On the women's side, graduate student Abby Liu earned the lone point for the Hawks. Back in the top spot for the Hawks, Liu defeated Sacred heart's Gabi Kaldan in straight sets, 6-2, 6-1.
 
Freshmen Jessica Galik and Christie Greenberg each won multiple games in singles play. Galik notched four games a the No. 5 spot in a 6-1, 6-3 loss while Greenberg, playing No. 6 singles, took fives games in a 6-3, 6-2 loss.
 
Both Hawk squads look to get back on track Saturday on the road at Quinnipiac.
