Box Score

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Hartford women's soccer team closed out its first road contest of the season with a 0-0 stalemate following 110 minutes against the Fairfield Stags on Friday night at Lessing Field. Keeper Erin Quinlan finished her first blank slate of the season with four saves.

The Hawks (2-1-2 overall) trailed the home team in the shot battle with 10 total compared to 19 for Fairfield. Quinlan's counterpart, Kathleen Early, also finished with four total saves. Both made a single save each in the first 45 minutes despite just seven total shots, four from Fairfield and three for the Hawks.

Fairfield stepped up the offense in the second half outshooting their opposition by a 10-5 final, however the best opportunity of the contest came in the second 45 minutes off a Hawks boot. Caroline Dixon blasted a rising line drive from about 35 yards out that forced Early to make the biggest play of the night, pulling the shot in from above her head.

The Stags also outshot Hartford in the two overtime periods with a combined five shots, compared to just two for the Hawks. Both keepers were forced to make one save in the extra periods, both in the first 10 minutes.

Hartford continues a two-game road stand with a Sunday afternoon matinee at Quinnipiac at 1:00 p.m.
