WOMEN'S UNDER-19 UEFA CHAMPIONSHIP
WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – Five games into her collegiate career, Hayley Nolan, a member of the University of Hartford women's soccer team, will be temporarily hanging up her Hawks' uniform. A midfielder from Kildare, Ireland, she will be heading to Slovakia to represent her homeland at the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) European Women's Under-19 Championship.
"Despite the fact that we lose her presence on the pitch, I am beyond excited for Hayley and her opportunity to be a part of the European Women's U19 Championship," exclaimed 12th-year head coach John Natale. "Being selected to represent your country at any level is quite an honor. Hayley has already contributed early on during her career as a collegian, and I can't wait to see how that will transpire at the international level."
Last year, Nolan played for Ireland's U-19 squad, where she was nominated for the U-19 Player of the Year award. In addition, she helped lead the squad to a semifinal appearance.
Nolan and the Republic of Ireland will begin competition on Tuesday, Sept. 15, as they face Slovenia in the qualifying round at 4 p.m. (local time). At Hartford, she has started all five games and has attempted three shots.
