The fifth-seeded University of Hartford women's tennis team was topped by fourth-seeded Binghamton in the opening round of the America East Tournament, 4-0. It marked the final match in program history.
 
Play was moved indoors due to weather conditions, and according to league rules singles matches were played first. Alexis Tashiro earned the first point for the Bearcats with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over 
Karolina Pilip at No. 5, then Shea Brodsky made it 2-0 with a 6-1, 6-0 win over 
Meredith Heitland at No. 3.
 
After a 6-1, 6-2 victory by Agatha Ambrozy over 
Hannah Goldman at No. 4 pushed the Hawks to the brink, the Bearcats clinched with a 6-1, 6-1 win by Olga Ostrovsky over 
Gianna Sabino at No. 6.
 
At No. 2, the Annie DiMuro was on the verge of a victory over 
Emily Sneddon when the match was clinched, while 
Skyler Schaar was engaged in a battle at No. 1 with Sara Kohtz, as the second set was tied at 2-2 when the Bearcats earned the victory.
 
Binghamton advances to face top-seeded Albany on Saturday in the America East Semifinals, while Hartford's final season wrapped with a 5-16 record.
