Softball Reveals 2020 Schedule

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – Head coach Angie Churchill announced the 2020 schedule for the Hartford softball team today. The Hawks season begins on February 7 and consists of 53 games with the team making its home debut on March 18 against Holy Cross.

"We are coming off of one of the most successful seasons we have had in recent history here at Hartford in 2019 and look to build off of that experience" said Churchill.  "We have a competitive schedule set and are looking to challenge our team early to set ourselves up for the America East conference play.  This team has set some really good goals this year and we have put in a lot of work this fall to prepare for the spring.  We are really excited to kick off the 2020 season down at Georgia Southern opening weekend."

Hartford will open their season in Georgia at the Georgia Southern Tournament. The Hawks will face Army in their first game followed by tournament host Georgia Southern, before concluding their first road trip of the season by facing Big Ten foe Rutgers and Army on February 8.

Following the Hawks trip to Georgia Southern, the team will head to Hampton University to battle with the Penguins of Youngstown State and Hampton on February 21. Hartford then travels to Norfolk State to face off with the Spartans and Radford on February 22, before heading back to Hampton to face the Pirates on February 23.
 
Hartford kicks off the month of March with a doubleheader at Manhattan on March 4. The Hawks then travel to face in-state foe Yale for a doubleheader on March 17 to conclude the teams 13-game road trip to start the season.
 
The Hawks make their home debut at the Hartford Softball Field on March 18 with a doubleheader against Holy Cross before hosting in-state rival Quinnipiac for a doubleheader on March 19.
 
The Hawks will host the Nor' Eastern Classic Tournament for the second year in a row on March 21-22. Hartford faces Manhattan College in the opening game, followed by facing CCSU on March 21 and Merrimack in a doubleheader on March 22.
 
Hartford continues its challenging non-conference schedule with a single game against Fairfield on March 24 before traveling to play Farleigh Dickinson on March 25. The Hawks continue the non-conference schedule with a trip to play UConn in a doubleheader on April 7 before hosting the Red Foxes of Marist for a double header on April 15.
 
The Hawks conclude the non-conference portion of the schedule with a doubleheader at St. Peters on April 28, followed by hosting Sacred Heart for a doubleheader at the Hartford Softball Field on April 29 for the final home games of the season. The matchups against the Pioneers will serve as Senior Day for the Hawks.
 
The conference schedule will begin for the Hawks against Maine from March 28-29. Hartford then travels to face UMass Lowell on April 4-5, before returning home to face off with UAlbany for a doubleheader on April 8. The Hawks then travel to face Stony Brook on April 10-11 followed by a single game against UAlbany on April 22. Hartford takes on the reigning America East Champions UMBC on April 25-26 before wrapping up its 2020 season with a trip to Binghamton to battle the Bearcats on May 1-2.
  
The America East conference tournament will be held on May 7 – May 10. The location has yet to be determined.
