NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – Sierra Stone and
Kaila Lozada of Hartford's women's soccer team were selected to play in the New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association's (NEWISA) Senior Bowl Game, the organization announced on Wednesday.
The Senior Bowl Game will be held on Saturday, Dec. 7, at 12 p.m., in North Andover, Mass., on the campus of Merrimack College. The contest will feature seniors from colleges and universities throughout New England representing all three Divisions.
Collecting a career-high 20 points on five goals and 10 assists this past season, Stone is coming off a senior campaign that saw her earn the title of America East Midfielder of the Year . With the honor, she became the first two-time America East Midfielder of the Year honoree in program history, having previously taken home the award in 2017. During her career, the Hebron, Conn., native racked up eight America East All-Conference honors, two NEWISA All-New England awards (First Team - 2017, Second Team - 2018) and a pair of United Soccer Coaches All-East Region Second Team awards (2017, 2019). She graduates with 50 career points, scoring 12 goals and dishing out 26 assists.
Stone has also excelled in the classroom during her time with the Hawks, being named the America East Women's Scholar Athlete in 2018 and to the Google Cloud CoSIDA All-District 1 First Team in 2018. She has been selected to the America East All-Academic Team three times in her career (2017, 2018, 2019) and has been named to the America East Commissioner's Honor Roll three times (2016, 2017, 2018).
A native of Newington, Conn., Lozada tallied three goals and three assists this past season for nine points. All three of her goals were game-winning tallies against Manhattan, Merrimack and UMBC. She capped off her final season at Hartford by receiving All-Conference distinction for the third time in her career, after being named to the America East All-Conference Second Team this season. Finishing her career with 65 points, scoring 23 goals and adding 19 assists, the forward also previously earned First Team (2018) and All-Rookie Team (2016) distinctions. In addition, Lozada has also earned recognition from the US Coaches (All-Atlantic Region Second Team - 2018) and NEWISA (All-New England Second Team - 2018).
Lozada is also a three-time All-Academic Team member, having previously earned the honor in 2017 and 2018. A health science major who holds a 3.86 GPA, she was also a US Coaches Scholar-All East selection a year ago, earning First Team accolades.
This season, Stone and Lozada helped guide the Hawks to a 10-7-2 overall record and an appearance in the America East Championship game, where Hartford came up short to Stony Brook. During their time with the Hawks, the pair of seniors led the team to 44 wins in four seasons, including a share of two America East Regular-Season Championships, four-straight postseason appearances and a pair of America East Tournament Title Match appearances.
