BOSTON — Senior
Kaila Lozada from the Hartford women's soccer team was named the America East Offensive Player of the Week, the organization announced on Monday. A forward, Lozada earned the Hawks' first weekly honor of the 2019 season after netting the game-winner in both of the team's victories last week.
Lozada started her final season as a Hawk with a bang this past week. She tallied the go-ahead goal in the 57th minute to lead Hartford to a 2-1 win against Manhattan in Thursday's season opener and delivered the game-winner three days later against Merrimack, connecting on a penalty kick in the 21st minute.
The weekly award is the fourth for Lozada, as she was a three-time America East Player of the Week last season. Improving her career point total to 60, the Newington, Conn., native is Hartford's active goal leader with 22.
Lozada and the Hawks look to improve upon their 2-0 start with two games this week. Hartford first heads to Providence on Thursday for a 7 p.m. tilt, before it returns home on Sunday to play host to Lafayette at 1 p.m.
