WEST HARTFORD, Conn. — Former Hartford women's soccer standout
Hayley Nolan was recently part of a six-part reality series called "Ultimate Goal." The series, which ran on British Telecommunications Sport (BT Sport), followed the journey of 31 hopefuls living and training like professional soccer players.
"Ultimate Goal" sees 31 women from across Europe live and train like professional soccer players, as the hopefuls take center stage at the home of English Football, St George's Park. During the series legends of the game including Fara Williams, Rio Ferdinand, Faye White, Freddie Ljungberg, Jens Lehmann, Jill Scott, Peter Crouch and Robin van Persie give the players the benefit of their experience.
Viewers get to know eleven of the women through in-depth profiles that shine a light on their lives and how they tackle issues such as equality, bereavement, mental health and discrimination. Nolan, a four-year member of the Hawks' women's soccer team from 2015-18, appeared in Episode 3 of the series. A defender from Kildare, Ireland, Nolan was recently selected to represent the New Republic of Ireland women's senior team this past summer. It was the second time in her professional career that she has been called up to represent the New Republic of Ireland at the senior level since earning her maiden call up in September of 2019.
Nolan enjoyed one of the most decorated careers in Hartford women's soccer program history. A four-time America East All-Conference honoree who received First Team laurels in each of her last two seasons, she was also a three-time New England Intercollegiate Women's Soccer Association (NEWISA) All-New England selection and a two-time United Soccer Coaches All-East Region honoree during her career.
Making starts in 68 of her 70 appearances, Nolan finished her career with 15 points (6 goals, 3 assists). Defensively, she contributed to 24 shutouts during her time in the Scarlet and White. Leading the Hawks to 45 wins in four seasons — including the most regular-season victories (13) since 2011 in 2018 — Nolan helped Hartford win at least a share of three America East Regular-Season Championships and a pair of America East Tournament Title Match appearances from 2015-18.
Nolan graduated from Hartford in December of 2017 with a degree in economics and finance. She also earned her Master's degree in business from Hartford.
