BOSTON – After a strong outing against The Citadel last week, junior
Nicholas Dombkowski was named the America East Pitcher of the Week for the second time this season, the organization announced Tuesday. This marks the seventh time in his career that he has won a conference accolade and fifth time that he has been named AE Pitcher of the Week.
The honor marks the third time this season that a Hawk has won a weekly award, as Domkowski has been named Pitcher of the Week twice and Drew DeMartino was named Player of the Week last week.
The West Springfield, Mass., native, opened up the weekend for the Hawks with a stellar performance on the mound on the road at The Citadel. He threw seven scoreless innings, striking out eight batters while scattering three hits to lead Hartford to a 2-0 victory against the Bulldogs.
Dombkowski, who registers a conference best .90 ERA also leads the America East with three wins and 20 strikeouts. The junior has registered six or more strikeouts in all three of his starts this season.
Hartford is back in action on Tuesday, Mar. 10, in the home-opener against UConn. First pitch from Fiondella Field is set for 3 p.m.
