Senior Salute: Jenna Bridges

Jenna Bridges  | Women's Volleyball |  Exeter, R.I.

As a four-year member of the Hartford volleyball program, Jenna Bridges concluded her career as the program's first ever two-time conference Player of the Year. In 2019, Bridges also earned AVCA All-Region and All-American honors.

She helped guide the team to its first postseason appearance since 1992, after the Hawks earned a berth in the America East semifinals in 2018. Bridges led Hartford to its first postseason victory since 1993, posting 27 kills in a five-set upset over New Hampshire to advance to the 2019 America East Championship finals.

Bridges finished her career with 1,178 kills, ranking fifth in program-history. Bridges broke  Teri Connolly's ('96) former program record of 65 blocks with 76, in addition to shattering Bianca Feldkoetter's ('95) former program record of 280 block assists with 291. In the classroom, she was a two-time member of the America East Academic Honor Roll member as a biomedical engineering major.
If you could relive one moment from your career as a Hartford Hawk, what would it be?
Getting my first Player of the Year award my junior year.

What was your favorite Hartford Athletics event that you attended as a fan, and why?
I honestly loved the talent shows that we had. Some of the talents were awful but it was just that much more funny.

What passions do you hope to pursue after graduation?
Masters/Doctorate in Biomedical Engineering, Research in Biomaterials/Biosensors and Bioinstrumentation.

What lessons will you take from your time at the University of Hartford?
Put your head down and work, no matter who is watching. It shows in the end.
The COVID-19 pandemic caused the abrupt end to winter and spring sports for the 2019-20 academic year, as well as the cancelation of several end-of-the-year activities for all student-athletes. The University of Hartford Department of Athletics would like the opportunity to thank our seniors for their dedication through their chosen sport. As a result, HartfordHawks.com will be posting Senior Salutes for each senior throughout the coming weeks.
