Nathan Florence | Baseball | Wilbraham, Mass.
Nathan Florence was a four-year member of the Hawks baseball team. As a pitcher, he appeared in 33 games, making 27 starts. Throughout his career he was named to the America East All-Conference Second Team in 2018 and was a part of the historic 2018 team that captured the America East Championship for the first time in program history. Florence finished his career with a 4.60 ERA and a 6-12 record. He threw 146.2 total innings, tallying 147 strikeouts.
Inside of the classroom, Florence was named to the America East All-Academic Team in 2018 and has earned America East Commissioner's Honor Roll Honors as an accounting major.
If you could relive one moment from your career as a Hartford Hawk, what would it be?
Winning the 2018 America East Championship and the regular season. Then playing in the DeLand Regional in the NCAA Tournament.
What was your favorite Hartford Athletics event that you attended as a fan, and why?
Men's Basketball vs. Vermont in 2020 at home.
What passions do you hope to pursue after graduation?
I hope to continue playing baseball.
What lessons will you take from your time at the University of Hartford?
Everything I've learned has come from being part of the baseball team. Having strong and healthy relationships with people around you, and the importance of hard work, dedication, and being invested in whatever it is you choose to do.
Do you have a favorite photo from your time as a student-athlete at the University of Hartford?
The COVID-19 pandemic caused the abrupt end to winter and spring sports for the 2019-20 academic year, as well as the cancelation of several end-of-the-year activities for all student-athletes.
