Jackson Olson | Baseball | New Milford, Conn.
Jackson Olson was a four-year member of the Hartford Baseball Team, appearing in 161 games and starting in 146 of them. As an infielder, he was a part of the historic 2018 team that captured the American East Championship for the first time in program history. Olson finished his career with a .288 batting average, four home runs, 57 RBI, and 161 hits. As a fielder he recorded 132 putouts and 231 assists with a .947 fielding percentage.
Inside of the classroom, Olson was a three-time America East All-Academic Team member, earned America East Commissioner's Honor Roll accolades and was named an America East Presidential Scholar Athlete as a marketing major.
If you could relive one moment from your career as a Hartford Hawk, what would it be?
The celebration after winning the first America East championship in Hartford baseball history.
What was your favorite Hartford Athletics event that you attended as a fan, and why?
The women's basketball upset vs. Stony Brook. This was a huge win for their program but also gave us some national recognition which was awesome.
What passions do you hope to pursue after graduation?
I hope to get the opportunity to play professional baseball this upcoming year and possibly start a social media marketing company down the road.
What lessons will you take from your time at the University of Hartford?
I learned how to be a winner here. I learned that no matter what life throws at you, you have to be ready and willing to take the hardships as a challenge. I also learned that if you want something, or if you're passionate about something, pursue it now because the opportunity might not be there in a week, month, or year.
Do you have a favorite photo from your time as a student-athlete at the University of Hartford?
The COVID-19 pandemic caused the abrupt end to winter and spring sports for the 2019-20 academic year, as well as the cancelation of several end-of-the-year activities for all student-athletes. The University of Hartford Department of Athletics would like the opportunity to thank our seniors for their dedication through their chosen sport.
