Five Hawks Named to College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Baseball Team

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - On Tuesday, the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District baseball teams were announced with five members of the Hartford baseball team featured. 

The College Sports Communicators Academic All-America® and Academic All-District® Teams program recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in athletic competition and in the classroom. To be considered for inclusion on the Academic All-District® and Academic All-America® Baseball Team, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average, and must have competed in 90 percent of the institution's games played or must start in at least 66 percent of the institution's games. For pitchers, a student-athlete must have made at least 17 appearances or pitched 35 innings.

The five Hawks making the team are senior Joe Dooley (West Hartford, Conn.), junior JJ Romatzick (Stratford, Conn.), junior Anthony Bubba (Jefferson, N.J.), senior Jackson Ciccone (Danbury, Conn.) and senior Jeremy Mangiameli (Middlefield, Conn.). 

Dooley finished his senior season with a 4-2 record across 10 starts and 45.2 innings pitched. Joe ended with a 2.17 ERA with 28 strikeouts and an opponent batting average of .262. He would be later named to the Conference of New England (CNE) All-Conference 3rd Team which is the first of his career. 

Romatzick made 34 starts and 36 appearances overall in his junior season as he continued to be the everyday shortstop. He also makes his second-straight Academic All-District Team. JJ ended the year slashing .304/.428/.401 (AVG/SLG/OBP) with two homers, 35 runs scored, 24 RBIs, seven doubles, two triples and 10 stolen bases. Defensively Romatzick had 103 assists and 61 putouts with a .937 fielding percentage.

Bubba, who now has made his second-consecutive Academic All-District Team had a breakout  junior season. Anthony made 11 appearances and 10 starts with a 3.42 ERA across 68.1 innings. Bubba would punch out a team-high 63 batters while holding a record of 8-2. He would end the season with an opponent batting average of .214. Bubba was later named to the CNE All-Conference 2nd Team, America Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) / Rawlings NCAA Division III All-Region Third Team as well as the D3Baseball.com All-Region Third Team. 

Ciccone makes his second Academic All-District Team as he continued to be the everyday center fielder starting 33 games overall. Jackson had a .359/.427/.508 (AVG/SLG/OBP) slash line with two homers, nine doubles, two triples, 28 RBIs and 27 runs scored. Ciccone also stole 10 bags in 2026 in 11 attempts. Defensively Jackson had 64 putouts out of 65 attempts. He was later named to the CNE All-Conference 2nd Team for the second-consecutive year. He had 15 multi-hit games in 2026 and led the team in batting average. He was later named to the D3Baseball.com All-Region 3rd Team. 

Mangiameli was a CNE All-Conference 2nd Team selection in 2026 after making 32 starts and 33 overall appearances. Jeremy ended his senior campaign slashing .357/.449/.548 (AVG/OBP/SLG) with four home runs, 10 doubles, 33 RBIs and 32 runs scored. Defensively the third baseman had 21 putouts and 67 assists with a .907 fielding percentage. In conference play Mangiameli was a star hitting .483 with 11 extra base hits and 25 RBIs. Jeremy ended the year being named to the America Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) / Rawlings NCAA Division III All-Region Third Team, while being named to the D3Baseball.com All-Region 2nd Team.
