KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Hartford women's soccer earned the Team Academic Award from the United Soccer Coaches, the organization announced. The honor recognizes exemplary performance in the classroom during the 2019-20 academic year.
 
College Team Academic Award recipients are active members of the United Soccer Coaches College Services Program with a composite grade point average of 3.0 or better for all players on the roster during the 2019-20 academic year. 
 
The Hawks received the honor for the seventh time in as many seasons after combining for an impressive 3.81 GPA last year. 
 
The women's soccer team set the pace during the Fall 2019 semester, as it posted a department-best 3.89 GPA. Each of the Hawks' 24 members received America East Honor Roll distinction for achieving a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Most impressively, 21 women's soccer student-athletes achieved at least a 3.5 GPA — including 12 perfect 4.0s — to earn Commissioner's Honor Roll recognition from the conference.
 
Individually, Hartford women's soccer student-athletes received a slew of academic awards during the 2019-20 academic year. Recent graduates Kaila Lozada and Sierra Stone, as well as senior Alexis Doran and junior Izzy Lachcik, were named to the America East All-Academic Team. Highlighting that impressive list was Stone, who went on to be named the conference's Women's Soccer Scholar-Athlete for the second straight season.
 
In addition, the Hawks had four US Coaches Scholar All-Region Selections this past year, with Stone and senior Anna Cronin taking home Second Team honors, and Lozada and senior Maia Perez garnering Third Team distinction.
