WEST HARTFORD, Conn. — The honors continue to roll in for sophomore
Kelly Severini. A first-year defender for the Hartford women's soccer team, she was named to the New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association's Second Team.
The award comes one week after Severini garnered NCAA Division I All-Atlantic Region Second Team honors from the United Soccer Coaches. In addition, she has also collected a pair of postseason awards from the America East, earning spots on the All-Conference First Team and the All-Rookie Team in November.
Severini put together an impressive debut season for the Hawks in 2021. Making starts in all 16 games and logging 1,445 minutes, she anchored a defense that posted seven shutouts and finished atop of the America East in goals-against average (0.65). Severini was also a threat for Hartford on the offensive side of the pitch, finishing second on the team in both goals (4) and assists (3). Two of her goals were markers were game-winners, against St. Francis Brooklyn and Stony Brook.
The Hawks finished the 2021 season with an 8-4-4 overall record and a 3-3-3 mark in America East action.
