BOSTON — Three members of the Hartford softball team combined to take home four All-Conference honors from the America East, the organization announced Wednesday.
Highlighting the award winners is senior
Danielle Rocheleau, who was named to the All-Conference First Team. Freshman
Chandler Mitchell received All-Rookie Team accolades after an impressive debut season with the Hawks, while Rocheleau and junior
Emma Curry rounded out Hartford's honorees by earning spots on the America East All-Academic Team.
A native of Whitinsville, Mass., Rocheleau receives All-Conference distinction for the fourth time in her career in 2021. The senior took home All-Conference Second Team and All-Rookie Team honors in 2018 and All-Conference First Team accolades in 2019. To go alongside her conference accolades, Rochealeu was named to the NFCA Mid-Atlantic All-Region Second Team in 2019.
This season, Rochealeu led the conference in batting average (.426) while ranking second in slugging percentage (.689) and third in on-base percentage (.453). In addition, she etched her name into Hartford's record books, becoming the all-time leader in career home runs after hitting her 20th during a 4-1 loss to Binghamton.
Rocheleau also earned All-Academic Team distinction for the third consecutive season after posting a 3.88 GPA as an international studies/politics and government double major. A CoSIDA Academic All-District 1 First Team honoree in 2020, she was also named an NFCA All-American Scholar Athlete in 2019. In addition, Rocheleau received America East Commissioner's Honor Roll accolades twice in her career.
A native of Voorhees, N.J., Mitchell emerged as a threat on the basepaths for the Hawks, leading the team in stolen bases (10) while tying for the team lead in runs scored (10). At the plate, she ranked second on the team with 14 hits while slashing a .250 batting average. Mitchell was just as impressive in the outfield, where she recorded 20 putouts while posting a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage.
Posting a 3.94 GPA as a health sciences major, Curry earns All-Academic Team accolades for the first time in her career. A native of Atlantic Highlands, N.J., the two-time America East Commissioner's Honor Roll member was named an NFCA All-American Scholar Athlete in 2019. A catcher who ranks fifth in the America East in on-base percentage (.449), Curry recorded 12 hits, two home runs, five RBI and a .308 batting average.
