EDISON, N.J. — Juniors
Hannah Drew and
Lara Yeung of the Hartford women's golf team were recognized by the MAAC for their academic excellence, earning spots on the MAAC All-Academic Team the organization announced.
To be eligible, a student-athlete must have met and/or exceeded the minimum requirements, including a minimum 3.2 GPA, and must have completed at least one academic term at his/her current MAAC institution.
Drew, a native of Keene, N.H., was named to the All-Academic Team for the second consecutive season. The civil engineering major, who boasts a 3.81 GPA, showed steady improvement as a junior. She posted a career-best score of 77 (+5) at the Sacred Heart Fall Invitational. This year, Drew boasts an 86.89 stroke average. Her best finish also came at the Sacred Heart Fall Invitational where she placed 28th overall.
Wrapping up the All-Academic Team honorees is Yeung, an acoustical engineering and music major from Moorpark, Calif., who also received the honors for the second straight year. She has had a sensational junior campaign boasting two top-25 efforts, including an 18th place finish at the Sacred Heart Spring Invitational. Yeung has posted the top score on the team in 2021-22, posting a one-under 71 at the Hartford Gillette Ridge Invitational this past weekend. Her score was the lowest since 2019, where she also posted a 71 during the final round of the Yale Fall Intercollegiate.
The Hawks will be back in action tomorrow, Friday, April 22, when they begin play at the MAAC Championship, held at the Disney Magnolia Course in Orlando, Fla.
