WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – University of Hartford head softball coach
Mairin Dudek announced the addition of
Julie Bolduc to the Hawks' coaching staff this upcoming season.
"We are very lucky to have Julie on staff," said Dudek. "She will be a huge asset for our team, especially for the pitchers and catchers. She is also a great recruiter and will help build the Hawks softball program."
Bolduc served as an assistant/pitching coach and recruiting coordinator at Amherst College for the past six seasons (2017-22) before joining the Hawks. In 2017, the program won its first ever Division III Regional and Super Regional titles as well as its first appearance in the DIII National Championship.
Prior to her time at Amherst, Bolduc spent seven seasons working with Molloy College. In her tenure, the Lions made two appearances in the NCAA Division II National Championship in both 2010 and 2013.
Before her coaching career began, Bolduc had a stellar playing career during her undergraduate years at Adelphi University (1983-87). Leading her team to back-to-back College World Series appearances in 1983 and 1984 where she became the first pitcher in NCAA history to pitch a perfect game in the College World Series against Utah State in 1984. Bolduc posted career numbers in 1985, leading the nation with 337 strikeouts while posting the third-best earned run average in the nation of 0.24. She earned both her bachelor's and master's degrees from Adelphi.
Bolduc also serves as a private pitching instructor where she has developed countless young pitchers throughout the Northeast Region. She is originally from Southington, Conn., and now resides in Granby, Ma.
In Dudek's first season in West Hartford in 2022, the Hawks posted an overall record of 17-32 marking the second highest win total in the last four seasons. Hartford also broke the team single season doubles record (75) and homerun record (30).
