KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Four University of Hartford women's soccer players have been honored by the United Soccer Coaches for the play on the pitch, the organization announced today (November 28, 2023).
Senior forward
Imani Jenkins earned a place on the organization's first team, while graduate
Ishani Sharma, senior
Christina Stone, and freshman
Kathleen Brush earned second-team honors.
"Getting four student-athletes on the United Soccer Coaches All-Region team is a testament to our depth," said Hartford head coach
John Natale. "I am pleased to see Imani, Ishani, Christina, and Kathleen rightfully earn recognition for their play this season that culminated in an ECAC Championship."
It's the first time since Amelia Pereira in 2012 that a Hartford women's soccer player earned a place on the organization's postseason first-team regional list.
Jenkins is now a two-time All-Region selection after earning second-team laurels a season ago. The forward had a record-breaking season, setting new single-season marks in goals (33), points (82), and shots (123). Her 16 assists are second to Stone's 19. She was named the ECAC Tournament MVP after scoring seven goals and two assists in the two-game postseason tournament.
With another season of eligibility, Jenkins has the potential to set the all-time record in points, goals, and assists. She would need 23 points, eight goals, and 11 assists to break all three school records.
Stone was the catalyst for a lot of goals as she set the single-season record for 19 assists. She finished with eight goals, 19 assists, and 35 points to finish second on the team.
Brush was one of four freshmen to earn a spot on the all-region teams. She finished second on the team with 12 goals, second with 34 points, and third with 10 assists. Sharma finished the season with four goals, nine assists, and 25 points.
Hartford finished the 2023 season as the ECAC Champions after posting a 16-2 record. The Hawks won all nine of their games against Commonwealth Coast Conference opponents.
